"Philadelphia Big 5", Meet the Author!

With all the buzz around March Madness and the support behind local sports, people from all around the Philadelphia area are proud to have an event that’s been around for over 60 years!

The Philadelphia Big 5 is a basketball league that showcases some of the best talent local universities could offer.

Consisting of LaSalle, Temple, St. Joe's, Villanova, and UPenn, this exciting event has been full of close games and buzzer-beaters ever since it debuted in 1955.

M. Earl Smith, author of “Philadelphia Big 5” attempts to explain the lore and history of this league in a state with arguably the most intense and loyal fan base anywhere!

As a local town with a strong alumni history, Phoenixville has an active interest in the story of the Big 5.

Taking place at the Phoenixville Library on March 4th at 7 o’clock, Smith will be there to discuss his book and socialize until 8.

In order to attend the event, you do need to RSVP beforehand, and you can either go to phoenixvillelibrary.org or call 610-933-3013 extension 132 to preserve your spot.
